The first trailer for the film adaptation of Gary Dauberman’s Salem’s Lot has arrived, and a release date has been confirmed for October 3. The trailer bristles with fog and vampiric night dwellers, setting the perfect tone for a pre-Halloween horror story to watch late at night.
Inspired by Stephen King’s 1975 novel of the same name, the story brings Ben Mears (Lewis Pullman), a writer, back to his childhood town of Salem’s Lot (an abbreviation for Jerusalem’s Lot) to write about a house that has plagued him with unexplained horrors since childhood.

Now, with a group of locals in tow, the townsfolk venture to the heart of the vampiric mystery and fight not to fall prey to the creatures as they do. “I’ve always written stories about things that are so terrible you’ll run away until your brain won’t remember,” says Mears (Pullman). When asked why he returned to the town, Mears replies, “Research.”

Salem’s Lot is scheduled to arrive on Max in October 2024 and is the third adaptation of Stephen King’s source material – following two miniseries in 1979 and 2004. Written and directed by Dauberman, executive producers James Wan and Michael Clear (Atomic Monster), Roy Lee (Vertigo), and Mark Wolper join the project.
Salem’s Lot further stars Makenzie Leigh, Pilou Asbæk, Alfre Woodard, John Benjamin Hickey, and Jordan Preston Carter. Beyond October 3, the film is slated to arrive in cinemas in the UK and Ireland on October 11.
