Dead City: First Look At Maggie & Negan’s Manhattan Series

A first exclusive look at The Walking Dead spin-off, Dead City, has been revealed online – per a report from ComicBook. The first pictures were shared on social media further below, teased during the AMC Networks Summit. The stills depict both Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan in action.

The pictures offer some visual clues – but their context – remains ambiguous for the time being. The first impressions would suggest a sports bar somewhere in New York. It wouldn’t be a leap to assume a herd of the undead are hot on their tails. The two appear to be in a hurry.

“It’s a madhouse, and [Maggie and Negan] enter it and get swept up into the madhouse,” Gimple said, adding that the spin-off will present the two characters with “a lot of conflict. There’s a lot of action. There are zip lines, the walkers are insane. The rats in that city are insane. Eli Jorné is the showrunner, and they’re doing incredible work over there right now.”

Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who has played the former Savior tyrant since Season 6, described the spin-off as “such a ride walking in Negan’s shoes, I’m beyond excited to continue his journey in New York City with Lauren.”

Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios at AMC Networks hailed the “compelling series” that further “extends our storytelling around two unforgettable characters fans have grown to love, hate or hate and then love in Maggie and Negan, brilliantly inhabited by Lauren and Jeffrey.”

The Walking Dead: Dead City is scheduled to premiere in 2023 on AMC and AMC+, while the parent series is slated to debut on October 2 – with the final eight episodes of Season 11 airing weekly and completing the trilogy. Check out what Greg Nicotero had to say on directing the season finale for The Walking Dead.
