Two Avengers Films Announced & Russo Brothers Update

Two new Avengers films will be coming – as confirmed during the San Diego Comic-Con 2022 – with Kang the Conquerer playing an integral role in the future of the MCU. Kevin Feige confirmed at the event that the two films will feature in Phase 6 of the long-running superhero series. The first on the agenda will be Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, which has secured a release date: May 5, 2025. The second film, Avengers: Secret Wars will arrive later in the year, from November 8, 2025.

If we break this down a bit more to make sense of Marvel’s ever-expanding timeline, the two Avengers films will serve as the second and third films in Phase 6. As for the first – the honour goes to the Fantastic Four – which lands in cinemas on November 8, 2024.

So, at this stage, the titles, release dates, and a general idea of the running order for the films is about all we know. Plot details and casting information are a mystery – so once we know more – we’ll be following it up.

The landscape of the MCU has radically altered since the events of Avengers: Endgame, and with more than six years between one film to the next – it’ll be difficult to predict how the films will play out. Needless to say, these are exciting times for all Marvel fans out there.

However – Kevin Feige confirmed during the event that the Russo Brothers – who had previously directed Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, will not return to helm the new films in the series. Feige confirmed in a short statement that the brothers would not be “connected to it.” He added that the brothers “have been very direct about that. We love them. They love us. We want to find something to do together, just not this.”
