The Walking Dead’s Rick/Michonne Series Shares First Photos

The first images from The Walking Dead’s Rick and Michonne spin-off have been shared by AMC to mark the beginning of filming. In one of the images, seen in the Twitter post further below, Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira’s chairs are situated next to one another on set. In the second image, the actors are pictured holding hands to signify the emotional reunion between the on-screen couple.

Aside from fleeting cameo spots in the recent series finale, Lincoln and Gurira are teaming up again for the first time in more than five years. As the parent series concluded after eleven seasons and twelve years on the air, Michonne continued her search for Rick, who was seen on an embankment facing off against a Civil Republic Military helicopter.

“This series presents an epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world. Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead… And ultimately, a war against the living,” the official synopsis reads, thanks to Comic Book.

“Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive — or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?”

As fans of the horror drama wait for the Rick and Michonne story, Maggie and Negan’s New York series, Dead City, is scheduled to debut sometime in June 2023.
