Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been cast in The Boys Season 4. Currently, Morgan is best known for his portrayal as Negan in The Walking Dead – but the announcement of his role in Amazon Prime’s dark superhero drama does not disclose any information about the character he’ll be playing.

However, the 56-year-old actor, who is set to star alongside Lauren Cohan for The Walking Dead’s upcoming spin-off, Isle of the Dead, will feature as a recurring guest star in the upcoming season. Above two stills of a smiling Morgan, the announcement reads: “Chuffed to welcome @JDMorgan to The Boys S4. Can’t confirm if he’s gettin’ any tights, though.”

In response to the announcement, Morgan reposted the news on his Twitter and reiterated his excitement for the upcoming role. “Can’t tell you how excited I am! Big thanks to @therealKripke and @AMCPlus & @TheBoysTV for finding a way with both schedules. No easy task. SO DAMN STOKED!!” he said.

For some time, the rumour mill has been buzzing with speculation that Morgan would appear in The Boys – after showrunner Eric Kripke revealed to E! News that discussions were underway with the actor, who Kripke confirmed was a “superfan of the show.”

“We’re trying to figure out something for season four. Nothing finalized yet, but he and I are chatting and e-mailing and seeing it we can make it work with his busy schedule. So, stay tuned on that.” Kripke continues. The showrunner had previously worked with Morgan on Supernatural, who played John Winchester – Dean and Sam’s father. Better yet, Dean was played by Jensen Ackles, who recently starred as Soldier Boy during the third season of The Boys.

The Boys stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Laz Alonso, Tomer Kapon, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jensen Ackles, Karen Fukuhara, Dominique McElligott, Simon Pegg, Chace Crawford, Jesse Usher, Colby Minifie, and Giancarlo Esposito. All three seasons are available to watch now on Amazon Prime.
