The Batman Part II: The Penguin Returns For Sequel

Colin Farrell will be reprising his role as OswaldOzCobb, otherwise known by the criminal moniker, The Penguin, for The Batman Part II, the second entry in the Batman Epic Crime Saga from director Matt Reeves. 

Speaking to SFX Magazine (via ComicBook), Reeves said Farrell, recognised for lead roles in The Banshees of Inisherin and In Bruges, would bepart of the movieand with a complete script in collaboration with Mattson Tomlinson, the producers behind the film weresuper excited.”

Reeves has said that the eight-episode limited series of The Penguin would bridge the gap between the first film, starring Robert Pattinson as the titular caped crime fighter, and serve as anentry pointinto the sequel. 

“There are details that actually connect right into the way the next movie begins, and the way that Oz enters that world as we hand the baton back to Batman, and Batman is on another case,Reeves added. 

 

The Batman Epic Crime Saga has been described by Reeves, also known for directing Cloverfield, asa meditation on the way Gotham is” and called it “a brutal place.”

The Batman Part II is set to begin filming in early 2025, with plot information and casting details shrouded in mystery. However, Reeves has indicated that critical events from the first film would help the sequel delve into themes ofdeeper corruptionandplaces that he [Batman] couldn’t anticipate in the first one.”

The Batman, released in 2022, stars Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, Barry Keoghan (recently announced to join the Peaky Blinders film), John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Alex Ferns, and Rupert Penry-Jones.

The Penguin will debut on Sky Atlantic and NOW on September 20.
