The Walking Dead anthology spin-off series, Tales of The Walking Dead, will debut on August 14 at 9 pm ET/8c on AMC and AMC+. The first two episodes of the series will stream the same night on AMC+. The remainder of the series will premiere weekly on the network beginning Sunday, August 21.
According to an official press release from AMC, the series “consists of six original one-hour standalone episodes focused on both new and established characters within the walker apocalypse.” Each episode of the anthology series will feature “its own distinct tone and point of view” while “pushing new, indelible characters with relentless, life-threatening choices and situations.”
The series will star Samantha Morton, who reprises her role as Alpha from The Walking Dead – the leader of the Whisperers, a savage clan who wear skin masks to blend in among dead hordes. Morton’s episode will serve as a prequel to her time in The Walking Dead after being killed off during the height of the Whisperer War in Season 10.
Tales of The Walking Dead will also star Olivia Munn, Terry Crews, Anthony Edwards, Parker Posey, Poppy Liu, Jillian Bell, Loan Chabanol, Embeth Davidtz, Jessie T. Usher, Daniella Pineda, and Danny Ramirez. Directors include Haifaa al-Mansour, Deborah Kampmeier, and Ron Underwood. The three will direct one episode each, with Michael Satrazemis filling in for the remaining three.
The series will be executive produced by the former chief content officer for The Walking Dead, Scott Gimple, who’ll work alongside Channing Powell as showrunner. Powell has previously worked on Fear the Walking Dead and its flagship series. The first two episodes of the series will stream the same night on AMC+. The remainder of the series will premiere weekly on the network beginning Sunday, August 21.
If you crave some more The Walking Dead content, Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan) confirmed that he had read scripts for the upcoming spin-off Isle of the Dead.
