Stranger Things 5 – First Look Teased, But With One Drawback

We have our first look at Stranger Things 5, but the image revealed by the writers behind the series is a little different than a typical trailer or promotional poster.

In a graphical mock-up, immortalized as a gif and shared to the Stranger Things X (formerly Twitter) account, the writing team teased what the final season would look like (H/T ComicBook for the story) should SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists), fail to reach a fitting agreement with AMPTP (Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers).

“Hope the studios make a fair deal with SAG soon or else season 5 is looking like this,” the tweet reads. The “pre-vis” animation features a facial expression of Steve Harrington (Joe Keery).

The “pre-vis” is standard practice within the television industry, as the Duffer Brothers explained in another post. A “pre-vis” is a “rough animation of a scene,” and the production team “only do it for scenes involving lots of VFX or complex action.”

The writers shared a second, blocky, low-quality rendering of Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton) with Steve in action. “They did Charlie dirty” the post reads, as seen above.

Deadline reported on September 27 that SAG-AFTRA and AMPTP would meet tomorrow (Monday, October 2) to “resume negotiations for a new TV/Theatrical contract” with executive figures “from AMPTP member companies” present at proceedings.

Stranger Things stars Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Gaten Matarazzo, Joe Keery, Natalia Dyer, Maya Hawke, and Charlie Heaton. The first four seasons of Stranger Things are available to stream on Netflix in the UK.
