Spider-Man: No Way Home – First Trailer Breakdown

The first teaser trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home has been released, and it’s a corker, to say the least. Let’s break down what’s in store for Tom Holland in his third Spider-Man film. It’s unclear how much time has passed since the events of game-changing events of Spider-Man: Far From Home

Peter’s identity as Spider-Man was revealed by Quentin Beck, (Mysterio) in the closing moments of the film, and now the secret is out. Worse still, Peter is in the frame for Mysterio’s death by drones. It’s not looking good. So Peter seeks out Doctor Strange in a bid to reverse Mysterio’s actions and reclaim his secret identity. You can already tell this is a bad plan.

At the New York Sanctum we find Doctor Strange, (Benedict Cumberbatch), and Master Wong, (Benedict Wong), but things aren’t quite right. Strange is reckless and begins to tamper with the elements of time and space by casting a spell to help Peter reclaim his secret identity. Something’s amiss with the Supreme Sorcerer, that’s for sure.

Enter a whole multiverse of problems. Despite Wong’s insistence to leave things be, Strange does the very opposite. Both Wandavision and Loki have previously teased the imminent arrival of a multiverse, and now it is finally here. The trailer offers us some glimpses at the new latest Spidey suit, the return of Happy Hogan, (Jon Favreau), and best of all, the return of two iconic villains from the Sam Raimi era of Spider-Man. No, not Venom.

We hear Willem Dafoe’s maniacal laugh as a pumpkin bomb clatters towards a vehicle, before Doc Ock, (Alfred Molina), emerges. I’m certain I’m not the only one who squealed with excitement.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is scheduled for release in cinemas from December 17, 2021, in the UK. The next film from Phase 4, slated for release on September 5 is Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten RingsDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder follow into 2022, wrapping up Phase 4.
