Sebastian Stan has shared his thoughts on how losing Marvel would impact the entertainment industry. The 42-year-old actor, known for portraying Bucky Barnes in the MCU, first appeared alongside Chris Evans in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011).
“I’ve never been part of a company that puts so much heart and thought into anything,” Stan revealed in an interview with GQ, following a question into criticisms levelled at the successful superhero franchise.
Also known for his work on Fresh, Pam & Tommy, and most recently, as Donald Trump in the biographical drama The Apprentice, Stan is reprising his role as Bucky Barnes in the upcoming Thunderbolts*.
“I think if Marvel was gone, it’d be such a big hole to try and fill up,” the actor added. “Don’t just go out there and s*** on something without offering something better.”
Thunderbolts* stars an ensemble of returning MCU faces, including Florence Pugh and David Harbour from Black Widow, the first film to launch out of Phase 4, and Wyatt Russell (the disgraced Captain America contender from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier).
Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) and Harrison Ford (who makes his Marvel debut in Captain America: Brave New World) fill out the cast.
Lewis Pullman appeared in a recent teaser trailer as Bob, who audiences predict will go by another moniker: Sentry. Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Olga Kurylenko reprise their MCU roles for the film.
Thunderbolts* arrives in cinemas on May 5, 2025, and is directed by Jake Schreier.
