Samantha Morton’s Alpha Teased In Tales of the Walking Dead

trailer has teased the return of one of The Walking Dead’s most deadly villains in the upcoming anthology series, Tales of the Walking Dead. Samantha Morton will be reprising her role as Alpha, the leader of the Whisperers. The Whisperers served as the antagonists throughout Season 9 and into 10, disguising themselves with skin masks of the undead.

Tales of the Walking Dead will chronicle six individual stories within the series universe, detailing the lives of characters brand-new and established in the series. Morton’s story will serve as a prequel to her tenure in The Walking Dead after meeting her demise at the hands of Negan during the height of the Whisperer War in Season 10.

Tales of the Walking Dead will further welcome a wealth of new faces. Cast members include Terry Crews, Anthony Edwards, Daniella Pineda, Poppy Liu, Parker Posey, Jillian Bell, Jessie T. Usher, Danny Ramirez, and Olivia Munn. Developed by the former chief content officer for The Walking Dead, Scott Gimple, he serves as an executive producer with Channing Powell as showrunner. Powell has previously worked on The Walking Dead’s first spin-off series Fear the Walking Dead and its flagship series.

According to a statement from Gimple, courtesy of ComicBook, the cast will “expand the Walking Dead Universe into harrowing, hilarious, heartfelt, and horrifying new realms and we couldn’t be happier to welcome them to the family, along with these terrific directors.”

Tales of the Walking Dead will premiere this summer across AMC and AMC+. The series is one of many new spin-offs within The Walking Dead universe following the announcement that the parent show had wrapped filming at the beginning of April. Stars including Norman Reedus (Daryl), Lauren Cohan (Maggie), and Christian Serratos (Rosita) paid tribute to the series on social media.
