Robert Pattinson’s Caped Crusader Will Not Appear In The Penguin Spin-Of

The Batman Epic Crime Saga, featuring Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader of Gotham City, will see the latest spin-off, The Penguin, develop the universe formed in the 2022 blockbuster, and director Matt Reeves has now assured that Pattinson will not feature as the Dark Knight in the new show.

In an interview with SFX Magazine (via GamesRadar), Reeves revealed the absence of Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne from the upcoming crime drama, which focuses on Oswald “Oz” Cobb, a.k.a, The Penguin (Colin Farrell).

“When I’m doing a Batman story, Batman and Bruce is going to be the main point of view. To explore the rogues gallery, they could never get the real estate we can do in a series. So Batman is in this [show] only as a sense that he’s a presence.”

You’re aware that all of these events began because of the Riddler, but the Riddler doesn’t appear and Batman doesn’t appear,Reeves said, adding that “Rob [Pattinson] is not going to be in the show.”

I’d rather take the Band-Aid off now. We did talk about all that but we felt the best way to do this was to go on a grand exploration of a guy grabbing for power in this moment.”

The Batman, released in 2022, stars Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, Barry Keoghan (recently announced to join the Peaky Blinders film), John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Alex Ferns, and Rupert Penry-Jones.

The Penguin will debut on Sky Atlantic and NOW on September 20 in the UK, and one day earlier in the US via HBO Max.
