With Loki Season 2 imminently arriving on Disney+, the God of Mischief may eventually reunite with his half-brother Thor. An executive producer on the show, Kevin Wright, revealed plans to bring Thor into the fold and reconnect him with Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston.
“That’s the hope,” Wright shared in an interview with Variety after being asked whether Hiddleston would reprise his role in the larger universe of Marvel. “I don’t want to… yeah. I think the the sun shining on Loki and Thor once again has always been the priority of the story we’re telling. But for that meeting to really be fulfilling, we have to get Loki to a certain place emotionally. I think that’s been the goal of these two seasons.”
In any event, the option for Loki Season 3 is still on the table, with Wright calling the future of the series “open-ended” with “many, many, many more stories told with Loki in the “Loki” world, and in other worlds connected to Loki, the character.”
Wright later suggested that the TVA could even appear elsewhere within the MCU. “It feels like the TVA could really be this exciting connective tool for all of this storytelling,” Wright said, adding that there were “more stories to be told there. We’ve carved out our own little corner of the sandbox and built something cool. We’re hoping that other people want to come and play with it.”
Loki Season 1 reached a dramatic conclusion after the God of Mischief and Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) travelled to the end of time. Together, they confronted the mastermind behind the TVA, He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors), a Kang variant.
Responsible for a multiversal war, Loki and Sylvie were delivered an ultimatum. Take his place as head of the TVA and monitor one singular, dedicated timeline, or kill him and allow an infinite number of Kangs to rise. Loki returns to an alternate universe of the TVA after Sylvie kills He Who Remains.
Loki stars Tom Hiddleston, Sophia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, Rafael Casal, Tara Strong, Kate Dickie, Liz Carr, Neil Ellice, with Jonathan Majors, Ke Huy Quan (who plays O.B, a tech wizard at the TVA), and Owen Wilson.
Loki Season 2 debuts on Disney+ on October 5.
