Kevin Williamson, a screenwriter behind the Scream franchise, wants to see Neve Campbell back in action as Sidney Prescott. Known for her mainstay role across the first five films of the horror series, Campbell retired the character after more than twenty-five years following a pay dispute. Williamson remains hopeful that Campbell will revive Sidney’s character in a forthcoming film.
“I know exactly where she’s coming from, I know her well,” Williamson told the Happy Horror Time podcast. He is responsible for penning three entries within the Scream franchise, including the 1996 original, Scream 2, and the 2011 revival, Scream 4.
“I love and adore her and that’s what she did. It’s right for her. I love everyone involved in Scream and all I can say is, pay her the money. That’s what I would do, I would give her the money.”

Williamson, also known for his work on Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, and The Faculty, feels certain “there’s a number they can agree on that will make them both happy, so hopefully one day they will figure that all out.”
“There were plans for Sidney, and they are no longer, unfortunately,” Campbell said at the time (H/T ScreenRant). “I’m sure they’ll make a good movie. As a woman, I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream. I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise.”
Scream VI stars Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Hayden Panettiere, Courtney Cox, Henry Czerny, Tony Revolori, Samara Weaving, Devyn Nekoda, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Jack Champion, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Josh Segarra, Thomas Cadrot, Skeet Ulrich, and Andre Anthony.
