Following the news that Hugh Jackman would be reprising his role as Wolverine in Deadpool 3 and entering the MCU, the news spread like wildfire across the internet. As for Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Wanda Maximoff, the actress would only learn of the news at the Power of Women Awards, as reported by Variety. It’s understood Olsen was shocked by Jackman’s return. “Oh really?” Olsen said upon hearing the news. “Wow!”
To those familiar with the comic book source material, they’d know that Wanda, otherwise known as the Scarlet Witch, a moniker Olsen took to the extreme during the events of Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness, is a mutant and Magneto’s daughter.
Magneto has been played, young and old, by Michael Fassbender and Sir Ian McKellen. During the event, Olsen was asked who she would want to collaborate with in the future of the MCU. The 33-year-old actress expressed hopes to work with the X-Men. “It would be cool to work with a lot of those people from the X-Men franchise. I guess Fassbender is my dad in some world?” she said.
As for Olsen’s future in the MCU, at present, her fate at the end of Doctor Strange 2 was left ambiguous, but Kevin Feige has suggested that the Scarlet Witch might be back again. Feige confirmed they hadn’t “touched on many of her core storylines” from the comics. In other Marvel news, Kevin Feige recently confirmed that the Fantastic Four film would not serve as an origin story, as the group makes their official debut in the MCU in 2024.
Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness stars Olsen and Benedict Cumberbatch, alongside Xochitl Gomez, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Patrick Stewart, Hayley Atwell, and John Krasinski.
