Deadpool & Wolverine Breaks Another Record

Deadpool & Wolverine has broken another record, taking the title from the previous holder, John Wick: Chapter 4. The action superhero comedy, directed by Shawn Levy (Free Guy, The Adam Project), has claimed the highest-selling first week ever for an R-rated film on digital platforms, as reported by Deadline. The film was released on October 1.

At the box office, after eleven weeks, the threequel, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in the titular roles, earned $2.1 million at 1,605 cinemas. In the U.S., the film has accumulated a profit of $634.4 million, pulling in $1.33 billion at the global box office.

Deadpool & Wolverine is now the thirteenth highest-grossing domestic film of all time, fifth domestic, tenth international, and seventh global MCU film ever, and pinched the title for the highest-grossing global opening for an R-rated film ever, pipping Deadpool (2016).
