Dame Helen Mirren Returns For Fast X In Set Photos

Dame Helen Mirren will return to the Fast and Furious franchise – as new photos reveal the 76-year-old actress with Vin Diesel filming on set. Courtesy of a report from Digital Spy, Mirren, who plays Magdalene ‘Queenie’ Shaw in the long-running racing franchise, was spotted filming alongside the lead star Vin Diesel at the Castel Sant’Angelo in Rome.

Best known for her roles in The Long Good Friday, the Red series, and The Queen, Mirren stars as the criminal mastermind and matriarch of the Shaw family, mother to Deckard, Luke, and Hattie Shaw, appearing in The Fate of the Furious (2017), Hobbs & Shaw (2019), and last year’s F9: The Fast Saga.

As previously reported by GameLuster, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, who plays Tej Parker, suggested the franchise could continue after the upcoming tenth and two-parter film. “All great things come to an end,” Bridges said about the conclusion to the Fast series. “But that doesn’t mean it’s gone forever, right? Look at Jurassic Park. That ended.” he continued. “But they reinvigorated it in another way. So I hope the Fast franchise will live on forever.”

Fast X Part 1 is due for release in UK and US cinemas on May 19, 2023, with Part 2 rumoured for release sometime in 2024. While the flagship series will soon race across the finish line, there’s every opportunity for the Fast cinematic universe to expand with spin-offs, prequels, and more.

Written by Justin Lin and Dan Mazeau and directed by Louis Leterrier, Fast X will further Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Sung Kang, and Nathalie Emmanuel, including newcomers Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones), Brie Larson (Captain Marvel)and Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad), who will also be joining the fast family.
