Andrew Lincoln has been pictured on set for the first time as The Walking Dead’s untitled Rick and Michonne spin-off begins filming in New Jersey. Lincoln was seen walking out of his trailer in apocalypse-friendly attire, with a white shirt, blue jeans, and a beard. Admittedly, it’s not much to rave about, and it’ll be some time before we see a trailer for the spin-off. Nevertheless, it’s good to see everyone’s favourite Officer Friendly returning to The Walking Dead universe, almost five years since his departure from the series.
“Dad’s back,” the picture is appropriately captioned, and the account credits Walking Dead Life for the photo, with fans excited to see the 49-year-old actor back in action. Responses to the picture have been primarily positive, with Twitter users sharing memes ranging from a weeping James Van Der Beek in Dawson’s Creek to Andrew Lincoln in character as Rick Grimes himself.

Rick and Michonne will be reunited on screen for the first time since Andrew Lincoln’s heroic departure from the show in Season 9, followed by Danai Gurira’s exit in Season 10. “This series presents an epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world. Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead… And ultimately, a war against the living,” the official synopsis reads, thanks to Comic Book.
“Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive — or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?”
