Adam Sandler, LeBron James Join Team for Netflix Film “Hustle”

Beloved comedic actor Adam Sandler has reportedly landed the starring role in Hustle, an upcoming Netflix original film. But Sandler isn’t the only big name attached to the project – legendary basketball star LeBron James has signed on to produce the film alongside business partner Maverick Carter.

Hustle, which will be directed by Jeremiah Zagar, best known for the 2018 film We the Animals, stars Sandler as a basketball scout who is determined to get back into the game after losing his job. Sandler’s character will reportedly travel abroad to discover a “once in a lifetime player” and bring them back to the USA in hopes of making them an NBA star. It has not yet been announced who will play this character, although it seems that it will unfortunately not be James, who will be stepping into the role of producer.

LeBron James, who currently plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, has previously appeared in several movies, including playing himself in 2015’s Trainwreck and 2008’s More than a Game, a documentary about his life and career. He will reprise this role in the upcoming 2021 film Space Jam: A New Legacy. Together with Maverick Carter, James founded SpringHill Entertainment, which has produced a number of projects for film and TV, including the Netflix series Self Made. Most recently, the SpringHill team served as executive producers for the video game NBA 2k20, to which James also contributed his vocal talents.

With production suspended on so many projects, it is unknown when Netflix will be able to film Hustle, let alone officially release it. However, the team-up of Sandler and James promises quite the interesting watch for fans of basketball and comedy alike.

As Netflix series and films around the world slowly begin to resume production, fans hope that more Hustle news will be announced soon.
