Tom Holland Confirms Spider-Man 3 Has Begun Filming

Tom Holland has certainly been a frequent face in the news recently. Fans have spent a great deal of time talking about Holland’s role in the upcoming video game film Uncharted, in which he will star as main character Nathan Drake. Now, the young actor has once again become the talk of the virtual town as he has officially confirmed via social media that the currently untitled third Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man movie has begun filming.

News from the MCU has been scarce lately, with the Black Widow film officially delayed and most of Phase 4 shifted into 2021 and beyond. However, the Holland-led sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home (which released last summer to generally positive reviews) has apparently begun filming in Atlanta.

An excited-looking Holland – dressed for winter weather in a hat, jacket and, of course, mask – posted a video to his Instagram story indicating that he had arrived in Atlanta and was ready to begin filming. Although he seems to have traveled there directly from Spain, where he was filming Uncharted, the actor seems full of energy and eager to get going. The video was quickly shared on Twitter and other social media platforms to the excitement of many Marvel fans.

Little is known regarding the third Spider-Man film, except that it will continue Peter Parker’s story as begun in Spider-Man: Homecoming and continued in Far From Home. However, it has been confirmed that the film will also serve as a prequel to upcoming Phase 4 title Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and that Benedict Cumberbatch will be appearing in the role of Dr. Stephen Strange. Also returning is Jamie Foxx, who first played the villainous Electro in 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which starred Andrew Garfield as the titular hero and was notably not part of the MCU. It is unknown whether other actors from the previous Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield Spider-Man films will be appearing.

Best of luck to Mr. Holland and the rest of the cast and crew – fans hope they will all stay safe and healthy as filming begins!
