Tobey Maguire is open to returning to his role as Spider-Man should he be asked, fuelling hopes that we’ll finally see a fourth addition to the Sam Raimi trilogy. At the very least, an opportunity for Maguire to swing into the MCU again.
In an interview with Marvel (thanks to a report from GamesRadar), the 47-year-old actor, whose other credits include The Great Gatsby and Babylon, was enthusiastic about returning to the superhero franchise.
“I love these films and I love all of the different series. If these guys called me and said, “Would you show up tonight to hang out and goof around?” or “Would you show up to do this movie or read a scene or do a Spider-Man thing?”, it would be a “yes!” Because why wouldn’t I want to do that?”
Maguire reprised his role as the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man alongside Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man: No Way Home. “When they called initially, I was like finally! [Laughs] I got the call and was immediately open about coming to do this.”
Sony’s CEO Tom Rothman recently confirmed that superhero fans should expect a fourth Spider-Man film. With details thin on the ground, there’s every chance the fourth film could be the next chapter in Sam Raimi’s turn-of-the-century trilogy.
Andrew Garfield recently described his experience working on No Way Home as “kind of beautiful. I got to treat it like a short film about Spider-Man with buddies.”
Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Benedict Cumberbatch, Marisa Tomei, Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Willem Dafoe, Jamie Foxx, Alfred Molina, Charlie Cox, and Tom Hardy.
