The Walking Dead Season 11C Will Solve Smart Zombie Problem

In 2010, at the beginning of AMC’s first season of The Walking Dead, the series introduced us to Rick Grimes, his band of survivors, the apocalypse at large – and if you watched closely enough – one of the biggest, strangest, and as of yet – unanswered plot holes in the history of the series. Smart zombies. The type who can break windows with rocks and climb ladders. Those who were recently teased in The Walking Dead Season 11C trailer, as reported by FlickLuster.

With the home stretch of The Walking Dead’s eleventh and final season only a few months away, the last seven episodes of the parent show will address the plot hole. Courtesy of a story from Insider – who attended the show’s San Diego Comic-Con press conference, questions were pitched to showrunner Angela Kang on how the smart zombie plot line would fit into the last seven episodes of the parent series.

According to Kang, who succeeded Scott Gimple in Season 9, the storyline will serve as “a throwback to some walkers we saw back in the very, very first season of ‘The Walking Dead,’ but not everybody ever encountered those walkers.”

Kang later added that the smart zombie subplot would require the characters “to be that much more on their game because they’re realizing that the methods that they use to survive don’t quite work the same way.”

”Our survivors, being very, very smart, they’re gonna try to adjust to that. But that’ll just be one of, many of the conflicts that they’re dealing with.” Kang explained.

Arguably, the introduction of the faster and deadlier zombies at this late stage of the series – is frustrating for long-time fans of the show. There is a strong argument that the plot line should have been introduced many years ago – particularly toward the end of the show’s perceived ‘golden age.’
