The Walking Dead: Dead City Gets First Teaser Trailer

The Walking Dead wrapped last Sunday with the series finale, and despite the parent series coming to an end, AMC’s horror universe expands with its next spin-off featuring Maggie and Negan, The Walking Dead: Dead City, which has received its full teaser trailer, thanks to a report from ComicBook.

Save for its unvaried title, Dead City’s teaser lays the groundwork for an exciting and brutal journey into the Big Apple as the two rivals contend with threats ranging from humans to walkers, not to mention the conflict between each other. Plot details remain scarce at this stage, including the notable absence of Maggie’s son Hershel and Negan’s wife Annie, who were still alive by the time the credits rolled in the series finale.

The Dead City teaser delivers our first glimpse at Karina Ortiz as Amaia, Željko Ivanek’s The Croat, and Gaius Charles’ Perlie Armstrong, as well as a smattering of walker-themed horrors, including a zombie fight club and a man being tossed over a balcony.

Since The Walking Dead’s final season debuted the variant walker threat at large, there’s every chance Maggie and Negan could have a run-in with them. In a behind-the-scenes preview clip for Dead City, Cohan described the spin-off “as a new kind of danger,” that would be set within “a whole new world,” while Morgan added that the characters were “getting out of the woods and into New York City, which has been really fun.”

The six-episode first season of The Walking Dead: Dead City is expected to air in April 2023 on AMC and AMC+. Mahina Napoleon, Jonathan Higginbotham, and Trey Santiago-Hudson also star.
