With every film in the Mission Impossible franchise, the action set-pieces become more daring, more audacious, and more death-defying. The set-pieces include planes, the Burj Khalifa, and most recently, a high-speed bike chase circling the Arc de Triomphe, (not to mention the fact Tom Cruise was heading the wrong way into opposing traffic). With the seventh installment due next year, the stunt work is ramping up, and in a big way.

Moving on from that terrible pun, the footage in question, seen via social media, shows a motorcycle, (presumably ridden by Tom Cruise), traveling at high speed off a ramp. Once airborne, Cruise is seen jumping from the motorcycle, and engages a parachute. He is later seen soaring through a mountain range, and at a more comfortable speed.

Director Christopher McQuarrie further teased the epic ramp stunt with an equally epic shot of the ramp in question, a gorgeous mountain landscape serving as a backdrop. Tagged Day 1, the photo presumably shows McQuarrie standing on the ramp. He’s a little small, so it is hard to tell.

Last month, it was reported that the team behind Mission Impossible 7 intended to demolish a real-life bridge as part of a stunt sequence. The bridge in question is based in the Polish village of Pilchowice, and was  built in 1909. The bridge has been decommissioned from public use since 2016, serving little cultural value, but nevertheless, there are reports of locals objecting to the bridge’s demolition and recognizing it as a national monument. Deputy Culture Minister Pawel Lewandowski said: “I would not be fixated on the fact that the Pilchowicki Bridge is a monument. It stands in ruins and has no value.”

Mission: Impossible 7 is due to release on November 19, 2021, and will star Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Henry Czerny, Esai Morales, Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, and Shea Whigham.
