The Mandalorian Season 2 Is Coming on October 30th

An official post via Twitter and StarWars.com confirmed that the highly-anticipated second season of the hit live-action TV series The Mandalorian will premiere on October 30, 2020.

The show, which is available exclusively via the Disney+ streaming service, has been described as a “space western” set in the universe of the beloved science fiction franchise Star Wars. It tells the story of the titular Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal,) a gunslinger and bounty hunter who ends up protecting a young alien he was originally hired to capture. It is the first live-action Star Wars TV series in the history of the franchise.

The first season of The Mandalorian, created by Jon Favreau and produced by the now Disney-owned Lucasfilm, premiered on Disney+ in November 2019. Although critics had some doubt that a Western-inspired Star Wars series could succeed, the show quickly gained popularity with both new and old Star Wars fans alike. In particular, the character of “The Child,” more commonly known by his fan nickname, “Baby Yoda,” became one of 2019’s most popular TV characters and an easily recognizable pop cultural icon.

So far, Disney and Lucasfilm have kept quiet regarding what Season 2 might have in store for viewers. We know that “Mando” and “Baby Yoda” will be joined by actress Rosario Dawson (Marvel’s Daredevil, Luke Cage, and The Defenders) in an undisclosed role speculated to be that of Ahsoka Tano, a Jedi and former apprentice of Anakin Skywalker. It is also rumored that other bounty hunter characters, including Boba Fett and/or Jango Fett, might make an appearance.

While you wait for Season 2 to premiere, all eight episodes of The Mandalorian Season 1 are available for viewing via Disney+. In addition, subscribers can watch Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience narrated by Favreau and executive producer Dave Filoni.
