Norman Reedus Joins The John Wick Ballerina Spin-Off

The John Wick universe continues to expand with a fourth film in the parent series and an upcoming spin-off, Ballerina, starring Ana De Armas. The cast attached to the spin-off continues to grow as well, with The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus signing on to star in the film following a report from Deadline.

The 53-year-old actor will join Anjelica Huston, Ian McShane, Lance Reddick, and Catalina Sandino Moreno. Keanu Reeves is expected to make a cameo in the spin-off as the titular John Wick himself. Ballerina, written by Shay Hatten and directed by Die Hard 4’s Len Wiseman, centres on Rooney (Armas), a ballet dancer seeking retribution against a group of people who murdered her family.

Her character appeared in John Wick 3: Parabellum, played at the time by Unity Phelan. Ballerina is set after the events of Parabellum, but before the events of John Wick: Chapter 4. The film will be produced by Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, and Chad Stahelski, who’ll be joined by Brady Fujikawa and Chelsea Kujawa from Lionsgate.

In a statement, Lee said the team were “huge fans of Norman, and we’re confident that the fans will be just as excited as we are that he’s joining the Wick universe. He’ll make an incredible addition to Ballerina.”

Reedus, who served as a mainstay star in The Walking Dead from 2010 until the series finale last month, is currently filming a spin-off in France. John Wick: Chapter 4 is expected to drop into cinemas on March 24, 2023.
