The first trailer for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special has been revealed ahead of its release date on November 25, 2022, via Disney Plus. Described by director James Gunn as a “holiday gift” to fans, we should expect a wealth of Guardians-related mischief as Drax and Mantis draw attention on the streets of Hollywood and have, by the looks of it, a really big party.
With Gamora absent following the events of Avengers: Endgame, and Quill depressed, it’s Mantis who pitches an idea to cheer him up and give him a Christmas he won’t forget. Even if it means she and Drax later break into Kevin Bacon’s house and abduct him as a present for Quill. Take a look at the trailer below.
To clarify, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is a TV special and not a feature-length film, as highlighted in a tweet from Gunn back in May, and officially closes out Marvel’s Phase 4 – which started with Wandavision at the start of 2021.
”It’s a TV Special (not a feature-length film) on Disney Plus. It’s part of MCU canon, & contains some important new elements in the Guardians’ story,” Gunn confirmed at the time. The special is, however, a part of MCU canon, set after Thor: Love and Thunder and prior to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3. The special will even have its own soundtrack and original music, according to Gunn.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 will star Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Sean Gunn, and Sylvester Stallone. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will see a cinematic release on May 5, 2023. For everything Marvel and more – FlickLuster will keep you covered with a wealth of new superhero stuff.
