Production on the third and final season of Good Omens has been halted following a story from Deadline reporting allegations of sexual misconduct against author, Neil Gaiman, (The Sandman, Doctor Who). Starring Michael Sheen and David Tennant, filming for the Amazon Prime show had gotten underway in Scotland.
No statements have been released by any parties involved in the series, but Deadline disclosed “discussions” into “possible production changes” surrounding the final series.
The news of a filming break comes after Variety published, at the start of September, Disney’s decision to postpone their feature-length adaptation of The Graveyard Book, penned by Gaiman, in the wake of allegations.
Documented in July, Gaiman was accused of sexual assault by two women whom he’d been in consensual relationships with and has subsequently become the focus of a police investigation in New Zealand (via Tortoise Media).
Authorities in New Zealand had made a “number of attempts to speak to key people as part of this investigation and those efforts remain ongoing” and revealed that “a number of factors to take into consideration with this case, including location of all parties.”
In December 2023, Good Omens was given the green light for a third and final series, with Gaiman returning to the adaptation as showrunner, writer, and executive producer, and in all likelihood, Sheen and Tennant in their lead roles.
Good Omens further stars Jon Hamm, Sam Taylor Buck, Frances McDormand, Michael McKean, Steve Pemberton, Derek Jacobi, Shelly Conn, Brian Cox, Mark Gatiss and Siân Brooke.
