Alison Steadman, known and beloved by audiences as Pam Shipman in Gavin and Stacey has revealed that “90% of us were in tears” as the sitcom wrapped filming for the Christmas Day special, serving as a series finale. Co-created by James Corden and Ruth Jones, filming started in September in Wales. Reflecting on the production (per the BBC), Steadman said she and the team had had “a great five weeks.”
“But we were all dreading that final scene when we finished,” Steadman added. “I think 90% of us were in tears, some people braved it, because it’s been so fantastic. We had a wrap party, it was very nice, it was lovely. We’ll just miss not filming it any more, it was fabulous.”
On October 8, the BBC shared a photo on Twitter, as seen below, of a Gavin and Stacey clapperboard with the following caption: “And that’s a wrap… for the last time ever, see you on Christmas Day!”

Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour last week, Steadman described working on the sitcom as “a real experience over 17 years from when we did the first series. It can’t get better than that, really. It has to go down as one of my most favourite, fun jobs.”
Rob Brydon, who plays Uncle Bryn, said he was “moved to tears” by the finale script (per The Radio Times). “It was a couple of months before the cast saw the script. I only saw it, we were on holiday, we were away, about a month ago,” he said. “I read it. Oh, it’s so good.”
