Fast X Trailer – Jason Momoa Declares War On Dom’s Family

The first explosive trailer for Fast 10 (stylised X) has dropped, and Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto looks set to go to war against Jason Momoa’s vengeful new villain. “Dominic Toretto,” Momoa narrates. “You’re about to learn all about fear. You built such a beautiful life, filled with love and family, I never got that chance, you stole that from me, my future, my family, and now I’m gonna break yours.”

This dramatic narration sets the tone for the tenth film in the franchise, in what feels like a rehashing of the plot from Furious 7. Instead of Jason Statham’s now-redeemed Deckard Shaw seeking vengeance for his brother’s near-death experience, Momoa is out for justice against Dom and his family for events connected to the villain from Fast Five.

If you can remember what happened four films and eleven years earlier, Dom and his crew pulled a bank heist in Rio de Janeiro and raced away with the riches of a corrupt dictator, Hernan Reyes, whose son grows up to become Momoa’s Dante.

The trailer demonstrates the typical doses of implausible, high-octane action, with Dom taking down two helicopters with a high-powered muscle car, blockading machine gun fire with a car door, racing through Dante through the streets of Rio, and attempting to out-manoeuvre a car cannon.

Momoa is not the only villain present in the trailer. Jason Statham’s reformed Deckard Shaw allies with Han, John Cena’s Jakob Toretto, who served as the F9 villain, hurls an armed mercenary through a floor, and Charlize Theron’s cyber hacker Cipher, who first appeared in Fast and Furious 8, reprises her role in the Fast franchise.

Fast X is due for release in UK and US cinemas on May 19, 2023. Supporting cast members include Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Sung Kang, Nathalie Emmanuel, Alan Ritchson, Brie Larson, Daniela Melchior, and Rita Moreno.
