Doctor Who’s Sea Devils Spin-Off Announces More Actors

The latest Doctor Who spin-off, The War Between The Land and the Sea, welcomes five new cast members, as revealed in Doctor Who Magazine 609 (via Cultbox). Producer Phil Collinson confirmed the arrival of Patrick Baladi (Bodies, The Office), Vincent Franklin (Bodyguard, Happy Valley), and Adrian Lukis (Peak Practice, Spy City) to the series.

The final two actors joining the spin-off include Francesca Corney (The Buccaneers) and Mei Mac (Call the Midwife and voice work on Sifu).

The new cast members join Ruth Madeley and Colin McFarlane, who reprise their roles within the Whoniverse alongside Russell Tovey, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jemma Redgrave, and Alexander Devrient.

Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies serves as creator and executive producer alongside Pete McTighe, Joel Collins, Phil Collinson, Julie Gardner, and Jane Tranter (Bad Wolf) in conjunction with the Welsh Government via Creative Wales.

“When a fearsome and ancient species emerges from the ocean, dramatically revealing themselves to humanity, an international crisis is triggered. With the entire population at risk, UNIT step into action as the land and sea wage war,” a synopsis for the spin-off reads.

“I’m so lucky to work with such a magnificent cast. And this is a huge, muscular, thrilling drama which will shake The Whoniverse to its foundations. When the Doctor’s not in town, the whole of humanity is in trouble,” Davies said in a recent statement.

The five-part series will be directed by Dylan Holmes Williams, the director behind two episodes of Ncuti Gatwa’s first series – 73 Yards and Dot and Bubble

The War Between The Land and the Sea will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK, and exclusively on Disney+.
