Doctor Who Season 15: Former Coronation Street Actor Joins Cast

Charlie Condou has been added to the cast for Doctor Who Season 15, expected to air on BBC One in May 2025. Details on the character Condou will play, and whether the former Coronation Street actor will serve in a recurring or guest capacity is unknown.

He will be joining a cast that includes Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor, Millie Gibson, who returns for a limited time as Ruby Sunday, and new companion Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu). The BBC declined to comment when approached for a statement by The Radio Times

Condou is best known for his role as Marcus Dent in Coronation Street between 2007-2008 before taking a break from the soap until 2011, by which time he served in the series for another three years, departing in 2014. He is also recognised for his role in Unforgotten, with stints in Holby City, Midsomer Murders, and Casualty

Doctor Who returns for the 2024 Christmas Special, Joy to the World, the first festive special to be penned by Steven Moffat since the Peter Capaldi swansong in 2017, Twice Upon A Time.

Speaking to The Big Issue (via The Radio Times), Davies had this to say about Season 15:

“If I sound a bit hyper, it’s because I just this morning delivered a Doctor Who script that will be on air in May 2025,Davies said. And it’s brand new. It does things we’ve never done before. The writing really pushed me. It’s such a mad episode, I had to deliver it with a diagram explaining what’s going on! I’ve never had to do that in my entire life before.”

More than 800 episodes of Doctor Who and associated spinoffs, including The Sarah Jane Adventures, Torchwood, and Class, are available on the BBC iPlayer.
