A teaser trailer for the Dexter revival has been revealed, and the series now has a title. Dexter: New Blood is set to premiere on Showtime on November 7, 2021, from 9pm. In the trailer’s description, the revival series is set ten years after the events of the original season finale, and “finds him living under an assumed name in the small town of Iron Lake, New York.”
“Dexter may be embracing his new life, but in the wake of unexpected events in this close-knit community, his Dark Passenger beckons.” the description continues. In supporting roles alongside Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, the revival series stars Julia Jones, Alano Miller, Johnny Sequoyah, Jack Alcott, and Clancy Brown, who was previously reported to play the series’ antagonist.
Take a look at the full trailer below.
Swapping out the sunny skies of Miami for the snow-laden town of Iron Lake, Dexter Morgan, now living under the identity of Jim Lindsay, (a neat throwback to the series author Jeff Lindsay), is living a relatively content life. He appears to have successfully established a means to live under the radar and develop friendships with the townsfolk.
However, despite living under a new alias, Morgan is increasingly fearful the townsfolk of Iron Lake will discover his murderous past, or worse yet, his dark passenger will sooner or later regain control of him. We see a glimpse of our series antagonist, played by Clancy Brown, and a potential romance between Dexter and the town’s local sheriff, (Jones). The trailer wraps up with a final chilling image of blood in the snow.
The series is still in production as they head toward the November release date. The show’s production team is made up of Showtime and executive producers Phillips, Hall, John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton, Bill Carraro, and Scott Reynolds.
