The Last Of Us Season 2: Creator Teases Scene Fans Will “Eat Up”

Neil Druckmann, the creative mind behind The Last Of Us, has given an update on production for The Last Of Us Season 2, teasing a scene of significance in the HBO adaptation, a moment that he believes audiences will “eat up.”

Speaking on the Strictly Business podcast (per Variety), Druckmann outlined “one scene in particular” that he feels will resonate with fans once the series debuts in 2025. The Uncharted creator said he was “really excited about” what Season 2 will deliver, and shared insight into the scene.

“One scene in particular comes to mind that I think fans of the game will eat up, because it really kind of tells you a lot of backstory of this important character that there wasn’t really a way for us to even do that in the game,” Druckmann says. “The game sometimes hints at stuff that we just don’t have time to get into the show that the game can, and vice versa.”

“If you experience both, they’re both richer for it. And I love hearing that experience from people. They tell me, like, ‘I watch the show and then I play the game, and I really like how different the Bill sequence is, and that gave me this other insight into him,’” Druckmann adds.

The second season introduces notable characters from The Last Of Us Part II, released in June 2020, including Abby (Kaitlyn Dever), Jesse (Young Mazino), and Dina (Isabela Merced – who shares a surprise connection to Alien: Romulus), while Home Alone’s Catherine O’Hara has been cast in a mystery guest role.

Deadline confirmed in March the addition of four new cast members joining the show, Manny (Danny Ramirez), Ariela Barer (Mel), Tati Gabrielle (Nora), and Spencer Lord (Owen).

Season 1 of The Last Of Us stars Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Anna Torv, Nick Offerman, Murray Bartlett, Melanie Lynskey, Lamar Johnson, Gabriel Luna, Nico Parker, John Hannah, and Storm Reid.
