Jurassic World: Dominion Plans to Resume Filming In July

Jurassic World: Dominion will be the third and latest entry in the Jurassic World series, a reboot of the popular Jurassic Park series about a theme park inhabited by scientifically recreated dinosaurs. Dominion is a sequel to both 2015’s Jurassic World and 2018’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. It is currently planned to be the final film in the rebooted trilogy, although an animated series to be released on Netflix is also in development.

Dominion, which stars Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Lego Movie) and Bryce Dallas Howard (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Rocketman)  and is directed by Colin Trevorrow, began filming in February 2020 in Canada and England. However, filming halted in March due to health concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now, a source has told news Web site Variety that filming for Dominion is planned to resume sometime in July. Universal Pictures has already begun pre-production tasks in order to prepare for a return to shooting. These efforts are confirmed to include measures designed to protect cast and crew from COVID-19 and minimize or eliminate the risk of spreading the disease at Pinewood Studios, the film’s UK-based shooting hub.

Universal’s plans include temperature checks for on-set workers, more frequent and thorough studio cleanings, and a private medical facility responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of the film’s cast and crew. Additionally, all participants will be required to wear masks whenever they are not actively involved in shooting a scene. Rumors indicate that the combined cost of these health and safety procedures will exceed 5 million dollars.

Pratt and Howard will be returning to the UK soon, where they will spend 2 weeks in quarantine before returning to the film’s set. It has not yet been confirmed whether other actors – including Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, who will be reprising their famous roles as Dr. Alan Grant, Dr. Ellie Sattler, and Dr. Ian Malcolm from the original Jurassic Park respectively – will also undergo quarantine procedures, but it is very likely that they will do so.

Currently, Jurassic World: Dominion is scheduled for release on June 11, 2021.
