Kathryn Hahn makes her series debut in Agatha All Along this September. After a lengthy wait, she reflects on the journey from serving as a fan favourite series antagonist in Wandavision, to headlining her television show.
Speaking to Rolling Stone (from a story by ComicBook), Hahn recalls a conversation with series creator Jac Schaeffer in the lead-up to the spin-off being green-lit. “‘God, I’d love to write for you again,” Hahn says of Schaeffer. “We both kept saying, ‘we have unfinished business’ to each other at the end of Wandavision.”
“I didn’t know if it necessarily meant something in this world or somewhere else, but our minds melded. I loved her point of view and her sense of humour. And this character just felt very easy,” Hahn continues.
While filming Knives Out: Glass Onion, Hahn was contacted by Louis D’Esposito, the co-president of Marvel Studios, where she was first approached for a spin-off. “‘How’d you like your own Marvel show?’ – a call you never get. My heart was pounding. I could barely understand what he was saying,” Hahn says.
For it to sink in, a sign was placed in the window of Hahn’s trailer on her first day, which led her to tears. “It was very, just very exciting, especially with a character that you just love and just want to explore every nook and cranny.”
Agatha All Along further stars Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia, Paul Adelstein, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Okwui Okpokwasili, Debra Jo Rupp, Patti LuPone, and Aubrey Plaza. The series debuts on Disney+ on September 18.
