Venom: The Last Dance is projected to open with the lowest box office opening in the franchise, with predictions setting the film at $70 million on its debut at the domestic box office.
As published by SuperHeroHype, the projection for the threequel, starring Tom Hardy in his recurring role as Eddie Brock/Venom, is notably lower than the profits of the previous two films in their opening box-office weekends.
Venom (2018) grossed $80.2 million before Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021) earned $90 million in sales. As Variety reported back in January, the budget for Venom: The Last Dance is marginally greater than that of the previous film, setting a benchmark of $110 million.
According to an official synopsis from Columbia Pictures (per Variety), “Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy.”
“Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.”
Venom: The Last Dance further stars Juno Temple, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Peggy Lu, Rhys Ifans, Stephen Graham, Alanna Ubach, and Cristo Fernández. Written and directed by Kelly Marcel, the threequel is scheduled to swing into cinemas on October 25, 2024.
