Until Dawn Film Release Date Confirmed For 2025

The upcoming feature-length adaptation of Until Dawn has a release date and will arrive in cinemas on April 25, 2025 (courtesy of a story published by The Hollywood Reporter). David F. Sandberg, the Swedish filmmaker known for Lights Out, the Shazam films, and Annabelle: Creation, directs the adaptation, from production company, Screen Gems.

Until Dawn is expected to compete with Amazon MGM Studios’ The Accountant 2, a sequel to the 2016 thriller starring Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal, which releases on the same day.

Sandberg has reunited with scriptwriter Gary Dauberman to collaborate on Until Dawn, inspired by the interactive horror game from Supermassive Games.

Dauberman penned a new draft for the film, succeeding Blair Butler (Polaroid, The Invitation), who’d penned an earlier version. Filming wrapped on October 4, 2024, as confirmed by Sandberg, who shared an Instagram photo of a bloodied mirror and a clapperboard.

Dauberman, who recently wrote, produced, and directed the Stephen King film adaptation of Salem’s Lot, is credited for his work on The Nun, The Nun II, It, It: Chapter Two, Annabelle, Annabelle: Creation, and Annabelle Comes Home.

Plot information connected to Until Dawn has been kept a secret. In the game, eight friends have to survive on Blackwood Mountain against a mysterious threat. The game utilises the Butterfly Effect, a game mechanic that forces the player to make decisions that’ll affect the overall outcome of the story.

Until Dawn stars Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, Belmont Cameli, Odessa A’zion, Maia Mitchell and Peter Stormare. Mia Maniscalco, Sandberg, Lotta Losten, Roy Lee, Asad Qizilbash, and Carter Swan join Dauberman as producers on the film.

PlayStation Productions are further involved.
