The Walking Dead will return on February 28, 2021. A short clip was posted to Twitter featuring Seth Gilliam (Father Gabriel), Josh McDermitt (Eugene), Ross Marquand (Aaron) and a new face in a virtual, socially distanced script read, Robert Patrick (of Terminator 2: Judgement Day fame). The script read-through teases Patrick’s character’s name but never reveals it. Gilliam introduces himself as Gabriel, and asks Patrick’s name, to which the actor replies: “You’re so close”.
The episode, titled “One More,” will serve as the first of the final six for Season 10. The original tenth season finale, “A Certain Doom” was initially slated to air in April before being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic into October.

“A Certain Doom”, as many will recall, set up the return of Lauren Cohan’s Maggie Greene, who’d been absent since Andrew Lincoln’s final episode, “What Comes After”, in Season 9. The Commonwealth made their first brief appearance too, sporting white Stormtrooper-styled paramilitary gear, as well as concluding the brutal Whisperer War arc that began in Season 9.
As previously reported by Flickluster, Hilarie Burton, the real-life spouse of Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Negan, would be joining the show’s final run of episodes as his deceased wife, Lucille. Much like Negan’s iconic baseball bat, the concept is hard to wrap one’s head around, but it’s ultimately a stroke of casting genius. It also promises big things from AMC’s horror drama.
In September it was announced The Walking Dead would end in 2022, with the show concluding with an extended 24-episode Season 11.
Beyond the parent show’s conclusion, multiple spin-offs are in the works. There’s a show starring Norman Reedus (Daryl), and Melissa McBride (Carol), as well as The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Fear The Walking Dead, an anthology series, and eventually, a trilogy of films with Rick Grimes.
