To mark Outbreak Day (September 26), the annually celebrated event associated with The Last Of Us, the first trailer for Season 2 of the HBO adaptation has been revealed, bringing back Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) for a thrilling new chapter to their story.
“You can’t heal something unless you’re brave enough to say it out loud,” a voice says – that we assume of Catherine O’Hara’s mystery character, as she sits with Joel for a therapy session. All the while, the trailer is soundtracked to Pearl Jam’s “Future Days.”
We are treated to winter landscapes and mountains, and ominously, we have a glance at Joel’s letter box, with the word Miller written on the side. For fans familiar with the game, we all know the significance of that particular scene.
Aside from the captivating cinematography, from the blood-red subway tunnels to Ellie’s guitar scene in Seattle, audiences are teased with the first look at notable characters from the game, including Dina (Isabela Merced), Jesse (Young Mazino), a disciple of the Seraphites, Isaac (Jeffrey Wright), otherwise known as the Scars, and Abby (Kaitlyn Dever), crouched in front of a grave.
“Say the thing you’re afraid to say, say it out loud, no matter what it is, no matter how bad. What did you do?,” the voice narrates again, while, on-screen we are teased with Joel and Ellie’s porch scene, as well as the ever-present threat of the infected (and significantly larger quantities, judging by the hordes charging through a blizzard, compared to the first season).
As PlayStation celebrates its 30th anniversary, The Last Of Us Part I has been added to the Game Catalog, meaning those with an Extra or Premium subscription can play the game.
To further mark the occasion, PlayStation are offering digital avatars of Joel, Ellie, and the clickers, discounted merchandise, while those with a PlayStation Stars subscription who play The Last Of Us Part I, can receive a Clicker Digital Collectible.
