A new cast member has been added to The Boys Season 5. Daveed Diggs, known for his work on Snowpiercer and the dual roles of Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson in the musical Hamilton, will join the cast for the superhero satire as the show reaches its swansong.
With Hamilton, Diggs secured a 2016 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical. Collectively, with the Hamilton cast, Diggs picked up a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album in the same year.
Making the switch from the stage, Diggs departed his role with Hamilton and moved into the realm of television. He has gained recognition for his role in Black-ish (2016–2018) and has co-starring credits in films Wonder (2017), Velvet Buzzsaw (2019), and The Little Mermaid (2023).
In 2018, Diggs was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead in Blindspotting, which he also created, wrote, and starred in before serving as an executive producer on the television adaptation of the same name.
For the Disney+ live stage recording of Hamilton, released in 2020, Diggs was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Actor in a Supporting Role in a Limited Series or Movie.
