The first pictures from the upcoming Peaky Blinders film have been released, featuring Cillian Murphy and series creator Steven Knight on the set for the Netflix feature-length, as production officially gets underway (courtesy of a report from Variety).
In one picture featuring Murphy, also known for his work on Oppenheimer, the Christopher Nolan epic that secured Murphy an Academy Award-winning for his portrayal of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the actor is framed against a wall in a dark suit with grey hair, looking cool and collected, while in the second, he’s pictured alongside Knight on set.
“By order of the Peaky Blinders… Tommy Shelby is back” the official Netflix Twitter post reads above the pictures, as seen below. Directed by Tom Harper, a mainstay from the original series, the Netflix film will star Tim Roth, Rebecca Ferguson, and Barry Keoghan, who join Murphy in as of yet, undisclosed roles.

Series creator Steven Knight says he’s “genuinely thrilled” that the film is in development, calling it “an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. No holds barred. Full on Peaky Blinders at war” Knight said in a recent statement (via The Irish Post).
The crime drama, which ran on the BBC between 2013 to 2022 for six series, Harper says “has always been a story about family — and so it’s incredibly exciting to be reuniting with Steve and Cillian to bring the movie to audiences across the world on Netflix.”
The original Peaky Blinders cast featured the likes of the late Helen McCrory, Joe Cole, Annabelle Wallis, Paul Anderson, Tom Hardy, Finn Cole, Sophie Rundle, and Sam Claflin.
