Jonathan Majors Weighs In On Quantumania Reviews

Jeff Loveness, the screenwriter behind Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniarecently weighed in on the mixed reviews the Phase 5 opener received, and now Jonathan Majors, who portrayed Kang the Conquerer in the film, has shared his thoughts on the critical feedback.

In an interview with IndieWire’s Screen Talk Podcast, the conversation steered onto the film’s 48% Rotten Tomatoes score, a low for an MCU film. “It doesn’t change how I see myself, period. The middle of the sandwich is, it’s all data. I’m performance within a story,” said Majors, who marked his first appearance in the MCU during the Loki Season 1 finale.

“I will say to my team as we’re leaving a premiere, if everyone’s reading reviews, I just keep saying, ‘How’s the movie doing? How’s the movie doing? How’s the movie doing?’ I try to clean my plate and take care of my part. And the response is, ‘You’re straight, you’re good, they like you.’ And then they tell me about the movie.”

“Sometimes the movie is also on a level, sometimes the movie is – but then you realize, it’s people… They have an opinion, and you always have an opinion,” he added. “What does that [48%] mean when you’ve also got this XXXX amount of box office? What do these things mean? And in my opinion, it’s information.”

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania debuted in cinemas on February 17, 2023, starring Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Kathryn Newton, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Bill Murray, and Jonathan Majors.

Plus, talks are underway surrounding Ant-Man 4, as reported by FlickLuster. What are your thoughts on the MCU as the series moves into Phase 5? We’d be keen to hear from you, so do feel free to leave a comment further down.
