Dave Bautista, known as the abnormal yet mighty Drax the Destroyer in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, has revealed his eagerness to a reunion with those he worked with on the film – and has even suggested he would be open to feature in the DC Universe, on the basis he was offered “the right part.”
During an interview with ComicBook, Bautista and Guardians co-star Pom Klementieff, who co-stars in his upcoming action-comedy The Killer’s Game, were asked about reuniting for another entry in the Marvel series. This is what Bautista had to say:
“That’s kind of my goal. I really want, because I’ve done another project outside of Guardians with Karen Gillan, and I’ve done work with Pom now. I would like to work with Chris and Zoe outside of the Marvel Universe, as well.”
The interviewer prompts Bautista on an appearance within the DC Universe and is met with an optimistic response from the Army of the Dead actor. “As I’ve said, and I’ve been very open to that. I guess it just has to be the right part. But I’m very open to it, and I love James and I would do anything to work with him.”
Penned by Rand Ravich and James Clyne and based on the book by Jay R. Bonansinga, The Killer’s Game is directed by JJ Perry. The synopsis of the film follows Joe Flood (Bautista), a hitman diagnosed with a terminal illness, who “decides to take matters into his own hands – by taking a hit out on himself.
“But when the very hitmen he hired also target his ex-girlfriend (Sofia Boutella), he must fend off an army of assassin colleagues and win back the love of his life before it’s too late.”
The Killer’s Game is scheduled for cinematic release on September 13, 2024. Bautista will be joined by Sofia Boutella, Drew McIntyre, Terry Crews, Shane West, Ice Cube, and Bean Kingsley.
