Danai Gurira Shares A Photo Of Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes

Danai Gurira has shared a new insight into The Walking Dead’s upcoming Rick and Michonne spin-off with an Instagram photo featuring fellow co-star Andrew Lincoln in costume. The picture is a throwback to red machete Rick, a nickname assigned to the character after dispatching a group of villains with none other than a machete with a red handle. In the snap, seen further below, Lincoln has a bloodied face, his face grizzled with a beard and his hair untidy and greasy. He’s looking every bit like the Rick we remember from the perceived golden age of the show.

“Have you seen this man?” Gurira, who recently returned to appear in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, captioned the image. While we’ve yet to receive any casting information or a trailer for the upcoming Rick and Michonne spin-off (or Richonne, thanks to a hashtag beneath the picture), a bloody Rick guarantees an action-packed series.

“This series presents an epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world. Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead… And ultimately, a war against the living,” the official synopsis reads, thanks to Comic Book.

“Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive — or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?”

As The Walking Dead universe takes pause following last year’s series closerMaggie and Negan’s New York series Dead City awaits. The spin-off is scheduled to debut sometime in June 2023, but not before Fear the Walking Dead’s eighth and final season premieres on May 14, 2023.
