A Golden Supe Is Revealed As The Boys Season 3 Begins Filming

Filming on The Boys Season 3 is underway, as announced with cheeky snapshot of a golden superhero from showrunner Eric Kripke. While it’s unclear just who the golden man in the suit is, there’s a chance this new supe is not affiliated with the Seven.

In an Instagram post, Karl Urban confirmed that shooting for the third season had begun, thanking the cast and crew for “taking every precaution to ensure our continued health and safety”

Urban will return to his iconic role as Billy Butcher, the head vigilante of the titular Boys with a fondness for foul-mouthed obscenities, and the word ‘diabolical.’ “We got some real goodies lined up for ya!” the Dredd and Thor: Ragnarok actor teases.

So far, we know that the third season premiere will be titled “Payback”, a reference to a new group of supes set to appear in the show. Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles will lead the pack as Soldier Boy, while other members of the team include Tek-Knight and Crimson Countess. Plus, episode six will tackle one of the comic’s most infamous, and risqué storylines, Herogasm

Speaking about the challenges of writing a story that sends the supes to a private island for a massive orgy, Kripke said: “I’ve really wanted to do it, but needed to figure out our twist on it, so it’s not just an hour of hardcore porn. But I think we got it!! Super excited about that.”

spin-off is in development too, which focuses on a superhero college. It will be written by Craig Rosenberg, the executive producer for The Boys

The Boys Season 3 has yet to receive a release date, but with filming underway, the back half of 2021 would seem likely. The first two seasons of The Boys are currently available to watch via Amazon Prime.
